The first few weeks she was in Nassau, she wanted nothing more than to try and find a way home. A ship to Tenerife; she could have stayed with her mother, and then found a way to Morocco, head towards Mecca, cross overland a bit, and finally another ship home. But she spent more time - so much more time - watching things unfold here. In India, she is a queen, and she misses that power, but there is a rawness here, on this nightmare spit of sand that she finds interesting.
