Her heart starts to go at a normal pace, now, it slows.]

Did you bring me something? From Calormen?

[That is absolutely not why she woke him up.]

[He laughs sleepily and nuzzles into her hair.]

Did you wake me up because you were curious about a present?

[He did bring her something, but it's an odd time to ask about it.]

[illuminescent]

No.

[She at least in honest. She woke him because she was afraid he was a dream. He is right there, her body against hers, and he's broad, and she feels safe with him.]

But a present is no mean thing, either.

[curlytop]

[George knows why she woke him. He's grateful for the reminder that this is real himself. Nosing along her hairline, he smiles against her skin.]

No, it's not. Do you want it now?

[Because he's warm and comfortable, but he'll totally get up if she wants it.]

Will you have to rise for it?

[They are of two minds, here. He's warm, and safe, and she is tucked up against him and it feels perfect.]

Well, I've certainly not got it in my pocket.

[Give that he has no pockets and no clothes in which to have pockets.]

And it didn't fit in my pouch.

Then I suppose you will have to stay here.

[She tugs herself a little closer.]

You may tease me about it, however. I give you permission.

[He's perfectly happy to keep her close against him, fingers trailing idly over her back.]

About your gift? Well, it's smaller than a bread box...

How big is a bread box?

[She holds her hands out between them, measuring a distance between his shoulders.]

This big?

[He takes her hands and moves them closer together.]

Roughly the size of a loaf of bread.

[He's going to keep holding her hands, though, fingers curled loosely around her wrists.]

How should I know the size of a loaf of bread?

[She's giggling, because she absolutely does know the size of a loaf of bread. It's a breadbox she's never heard of.]

All right. So it is not so large. Tell me another thing about your gift.

[curlytop]

From seeing one on your table.

[He laughs and kisses her temple.]

When I saw it, it made me think of you.

[illuminescent]

Is it very pretty?

[She chases his kiss with one of her own, to his shoulder.]

[curlytop]

It is quite pretty, but that is not why I thought of you. Many things in Tashbaan are quite pretty.

[HIs lips travel down her temple to her cheek.]

Like the girls?

[She thinks they probably tossed themselves all over him, and maybe she shouldn't be jealous, she knows she doesn't have to be, but she is a little.]

[curlytop]

I didn't notice any girls.

[Without being Rabadash's Lion, he was not a tame enough beast for the Calormene ladies to approach, and it was much easier for him to stay with the Narnians than try to interact with the Calormenes.]

[illuminescent]

Oh, they noticed you.

You are impossible to ignore.

[Tall and handsome and forbidding. Her mouth touches his tattoo.]

But all right.

Small. And pretty.

[curlytop]

Small and pretty. It seemed fitting.

[He smiles and crooks his fingers under her chin to lift her face for a kiss.]

And as there weren't any other girls in the whole of Calormen, I had to bring it back to you.

[illuminescent]

Is it jewels-

[And she gives him a kiss back.]

[curlytop]

It is not jewels.

[He drops a trail of kisses along her jaw to her ear.]

I couldn't possibly buy you jewels finer than what you already have.

[illuminescent]

Is it-

[She lifts her head a little.]

Sweets?

[This game is fun, if only because it keeps them close together in her big bed, coils them tight around each other.]

[curlytop]

[His lips move lazily down her throat.]

Why would you need sweets, my love? You're sweet enough as it is.

[Which is not to say that it isn't sweets.]

[illuminescent]

You are so kindly.

[She says it, and giggles, arching up into him.]

But it is because I like sweets.

[He laughs into her skin.]

I have never noticed such a thing. You never have pudding.

You teased me that I ate too many sweetmeats! And cake!

[She's pushing at him a little.]

You most wicked thing!

[But she kisses him, again and again.]
